儿子 兄长

邓小平在广西闹革命时，时时把人民的冷暖安危挂在心头。可以这么说，在人民群众的面前，他是孝顺的儿子；在战士们的面前，他是亲切的兄长。直到今天，在当地的人民群众中还流传着邓小平关心群众爱护战士故事。

When Deng Xiaoping was in the Guangxi revolution, he always kept the well-being and safety of the people close to his heart. One could say that to the masses, he was a filial son, and to his comrades in battle, he was a dear brother. Even today, the local people still tell stories about how Deng Xiaoping cared for the people and protected his soldiers.

有一天，邓小平忙完军事操练后，对农民赤卫队梁连长说：“走，我们去看看群众的生活。”走在村里的小路上邓小平心情越来越沉重，因为他看到了人民群众的生活条件相当恶劣。

One day, when Deng Xiaoping had finished the military exercises, he said to Liang Lianzhang from the Farmer's Red Guard: "Come, let us go and observe the life of the masses." When walking along the small road in the village, Deng Xiaoping's mood sank lower and lower, becase the conditions that the masses of the people were living in were rather deplorable.

突然，邓小平在一户人家门口停了下来。他抬头看着这户人家的房子，房顶是茅草的。由于年久失修，茅草已经腐烂，几乎快掉光了；墙壁是用稻草和泥糊起来的，到处都是窟窿。

Suddenly, Deng Xiaoping stopped at the gates of a home. He raised his head to look at this family's house, the roof was made of grass. Since it had not been repaired, the grass was rotten, and had nearly fallen down; the wall was made from straw and mud, and there were holes everywhere.

邓小平看到这儿，沉重地叹了一口气。忽然，他听到从屋里传出一阵老人的咳嗽声，接着又是一阵呻吟。邓小平立即走进了房子。

Deng Xiaoping looked at this, and sighed heavily. Suddenly he heard the sound of an old person coughing, followed by moaning. Deng Xiaoping immediately went into the house.

屋里特别黑，邓小平看好不容易才清楚了一位老太太躺在一张床上，盖着一床不知有多少补丁被子。可能是疼痛，老太太在床上上气不接下气地喘息着。邓小平急忙走过去，坐在老太太的床边，关切地问道：“老人家，您得了什么病？您家里的人呢？”

Inside the room it was very dark, Deng Xiaoping had trouble seeing the old lady lying on a bed clearly. She was covered with who knows how many patched blankets. She could have been in pain, since she was gasping for breath. Deng Xiaoping quickly went forward to sit at the side of the lady's bed, and asked worriedly: "Granny, what kind of illness do you have? What about your family members?"

老太太张开嘴，想要说些什么，却说不出话来。这时，梁连长在一边轻轻地说：“她叫梁姆蕊，家里原来有9口人，可男人不久前死了，7个孩子又病死了4个，后来实在活不下去了，又卖了一男一女，现在只剩大儿子与她相依为命。”

The old lady opened her mouth intending to say something, but no words came out. At this time, Liang Lianzhang said quietly from the side: "Her name is Liang Murui, there were originally nine people in her family, but her man died not long ago, of her seven children four died from illness. After this the family could not live on, and she sold one son and one daughter, now there is only her eldest son left to support her in life."

邓小平听了这些话，眼泪都快掉下来了。他握住老大娘的手，深情地说：

When Deng Xiaoping heard this, tears started falling. He grabbed the old woman's hand, and with deep emotion he said:

“大娘，等革命成功了，我们就会有好日子过的，现在的困难，让我们来帮你。”

"Lady, wait for the revolution to succeed, and we will have good times ahead. Let us help you with the current troubles."

说完，邓小平站起身，从口装里掏出200个铜板交给梁连长，让他交给大娘。接着，他又叫来卫生员为大娘治病，眼里流出了感动的泪水。

When he was finished talking, Deng Xiaoping rose and fished out 200 copper coins from his pocket and gave them to Liang Lianzhang, to let him give it to the old lady. Then he called on the medic to treat the old woman, and from his eyes flowed tears of emotion.

在军中，邓小平对待军队里的战士，也像兄长一样。

Among the troops, Deng Xiaoping treated the soldiers just like brothers.

一天深夜，邓小平有事要到其他村去开会。这时正值深冬，一阵寒风刮来，护送邓小平的一个赤卫队员不由地打了一个寒顫，并忍不住打了一个喷嚏。

One night, Deng Xiaoping had to go to another village to hold a meeting. It was winter, and a cold wind was blowing. The Red Guard member escording Deng Xiaoping could not help shivering, and could not resist sneezing.

邓小平回头一看，原来这位赤卫队员随他出来时没穿棉衣。“你这样会冻病的，来，把我的棉衣穿上。”于是，他立即把自己身上的棉衣递过去，叫他赶快穿上。

Deng Xiaoping looked back, and in fact this Red Guard member following him did not wear a padded jacket. "You will catch a cold this way, come, wear my jacket." He immediately handed over his jacket, and told him to put it on quickly.

“政委，你把衣服给我，你也会冷的，我不要。”这位赤卫队员边说过推让着。

"Mr. political commisar, if you give your clothes to me you will freeze, I don't want it." This Red Guard member declined it.

邓小平把脸一沉，严肃地说：“什么不要不要，现在，我命令你，赶快穿上。”

Deng Xiaoping looked serious, and said solemnly: "What is this about you not wanting it, I am giving you an order now, put it on quickly."

那位赤卫队员还要争辩，可一看邓小平那坚定的表情和慈祥的目光，便老老实实地接过棉衣穿在了身上。

The Red Guard member still wanted to dispute this, but as soon as he saw Deng Xiaoping's determined expression and compassionate look, he obediently put on the padded jacket.

战士穿着这件棉衣，身上暖烘烘的，心里更是热乎乎的。

When the soldier wore this jacket, he felt warm and comfortable in his body and in his heart.
