What I use

Note: If you're not interested in computers, you might want to skip the rest.

There are many editors, and many heated debates about their different (dis)advantages. I tend to use Vim for text and source code editing, with this configuration.

In the world of programming languages there are even more intense debates. I started out with QBasic, then Pascal, C and various assembly languages. I've used the last two frequently ever since, and more recently I started using Ruby and Python for prototyping. At some points I've also had to use Fortran, Java, SML, etc.
