About me

My name is Robert Östling, and I was born 1986 in Stockholm, Sweden.

I have a wide range of interests, from mathematics, computer science, amateur radio (callsign SM0YSR) and electronics to linguistics (particularly Chinese), history, and literature. Of these, computer programming seems to be the most persistent one.

I have a PhD in linguistics from the Department of Lingusitics at Stockholm University, with a thesis on computational lingusitics. Before that I studied computer science and engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH).

During 2016 I was working as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki, but now I am at Stockholm University again.

I should not be confused with the other Robert Östling at Stockholm University.
