About me

My name is Robert Östling, and I was born 1986 in Stockholm, Sweden.

My interests include mathematics, computer science, electronics and amateur radio (callsign SM0YSR), amateur astronomy, linguistics (now my job), history and literature (particularly Chinese), environmental issues, and really too many things to mention here.

I have a PhD in linguistics from the Department of Lingusitics at Stockholm University, with a thesis on computational lingusitics. Before that I studied computer science and engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH). For my academic publications, see my research site.

During 2016 I was working as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki, but now I am at Stockholm University again.

I am distinct from, but frequently confused with other Robert Östling who used to work in the same building as me at Stockholm University.
